It’s October 3rd. Germany is celebrating the unity, a long weekend ahead. The streets towards the Baltic Sea are packed. Germany is on the road to enjoy sunny days up to 20 Celsius … who would have figured?
I am picking up my little brother at 9:30 in the morning. His second time sailing, the first one was at the Alster ~ 1,5 years ago. It’s a calm day. Wind up to 10 knots. Good conditions for the two of us. After 40 minutes delay due to traffic, we are already dressed in our sailing cloth, up and afloat. Sina will join us in the evening, we are logging some miles and a lot of sun on our faces until then.
Lively activity at Ancora Marina. Sailors and their friends sitting in their cockpits, enjoying the sun, nice food and beverages. Something is different though. It’s only a hint in the colors and the smell. It’s pitch black at 19:30, the air is coming down, drawing a humid curtain over every men and boat. People escaping the humidity, boat cabins are are lit up, parties continuing inside. It is October already.
Unbelievable, the weather is still so lovely, I am feeling really sad that the season is coming to an end. At the same time, I am exited to clean up the boat, repairing one or the other thing. Getting it in excellent shape for next year.
