One step further …
My first home port will be in Neustadt, Germany. I have signed a contract with the Ancora Marina today. What a relieve, waiting lists for boxes are quite long e.g. in the City Harbor of Neustadt, 220 other boats are ahead of me in the waiting list.
The Ancora Marina is very nice, provides a high level of security and great sanitary facilities. A lot of companies providing maritime services or selling equipment are directly located in the marina. In short, everything required is available on a short distance in superb quality. On the other hand the marina seems to be a rather closed community. The city-live of Neustadt, the bars and beaches etc. are in a distance of 10 minutes by bicycle which I think is a little sad – I’d prefer close walking distance.
The box I’ve rented is 9×3,50 meters. Though more costly, the dimensions will be an advantage at first. Seascape 27 measures 8×2,54 meters => a lot of spare space in the box and less risk to hit the poles or other boats 😉 I would go for a smaller box as well, but this was the smallest available.
