Maiden voyage passed: we have made it! Our Seascape is securely tight up at its home port in Neustadt i.H. The boat is sailing absolutely great, few changes in trim and you can see the speed changing in an instant. Around 12 knots of wind with an up-wind speed of 6 – 7 knots. The journey itself was pretty exhausting though – only 157.1 nm in total, but the weather was almost as bad as it could get for 3 out of 4 days.
If it wasn’t for the temperature (4-10° Celsius) and fog (humidity 100%, sight down to 30 meters), the tour would have been super fun. We also had time to break-in our 6hp Tohatsu along the way. Wind died on us in the middle of the day and we still had 5 hours to go. It actually pushes the boat 6 – 7 knots at 1/2 to 2/3 throttle – no waves.
Well, looks like this was Rasmus way of telling us that we have to baptize the boat. Overall a great experience and a lot we have learned but something we do not want to repeat soon. From now on, we’ll wind down and enjoy instead of eating miles no matter the conditions.
